Today we get an insane new featurette for you to watch today for Top Gun: Maverick, and it takes fans of the franchise behind the scenes of the extreme flight training that the actors had to go through in rehearsal for the movie. The training looks totally badass, going through something like this would be an amazing experience.
The featurette features a lot of cool behind-the-scenes footage, and it also shows some actual new footage from footage that was shot for the movie. This movie looks insanely good.
Top Gun: Maverick stars Tom Cruise, who is reprising his role from the original movie, and he will be joined by Miles Teller as Goose’s son, Glen Powell, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Val Kilmer, and Lewis Pullman.
Cruise developed a whole training program for the actors to go through in rehearsal to shoot the movie. Cruise said that they needed the “commitment to shoot the actors practically, inside the Boeing F/A-18 Superhornet jets.” He went on to say: “It was every step of the way. I had to teach them how to fly. I had to teach them how to handle gs. I had to get them confident in the airplane.”
Co-star Miles Teller previously said about Cruise’s Bootcamp for them, saying, “We were all mini Toms making this movie. He put us through… I’ll just call it a ‘Tom Cruise boot camp’. We were getting in killer shape. And also for the stunts and stuff that Tom does in movies, it’s usually a very specific type of training. You’re not just going into the gym and lifting some weights. We did flight training for three months before we started filming… We got put through the wringer.”
After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of TOPGUN graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.”
Top Gun: Maverick will be released on May 27th, 2022. Now, watch the new feature!
