Top 5 Games Turn Into Slots

by ZeeshanN

It’s not often that a video game becomes so popular that it’s carried over to other mediums like movies, tv-shows, books, comics, toys, and even slot machines.

But as the video game industry has now overtaken the movie industry in terms of revenue, we’re probably going to see a lot more video games being adapted to other formats as more and more people are enjoying video games than ever before.

Here’s a list of 5 video games turned into slot machines.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty is one of the most successful first-person shooter game series ever developed. It’s grossed over $15 billion and has sold more than 250 million copies worldwide.

The fast-paced gunplay and online multiplayer lobby turned it into one of the most played online games as hordes of players battled each other to claim victory.

Amaya Gaming bought the rights to transform the game into a slot machine using many Call of Duty icons and sticking to the game’s theme.

Street Fighter

Anyone who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s has happily mashed away at Street Fighter. It’s one of the most iconic arcade games ever created and has been turned into numerous other formats, including a Movie with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Kylie Minogue. The movie has a 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so read into that what you will.

The giant Swedish game developer NetEnt decided to base a slot on Street Fighter 2, but it was taken down after only one week due to responsible gaming concerns.

Resident Evil

Not all computer games are about action or having a fun, happy time. If you enjoy the horror genre, zombies, and jumping out of your seat from sheer terror, you probably played Resident Evil.

It was hailed as the game that catapulted survival horror into gaming’s mainstream culture since its release in 1996. Like Street Fighter, it’s also made its way into the movie industry but enjoyed more success spanning six movies, with more probably on the way.

Skywind Group developed a slot game based on Resident Evil 6 featuring Ada, Chris, Leon, Jake, and plenty of monsters.

Tomb Raider

Selling over 75 million copies and showing women everywhere that a popular video game can have a leading female character, Tomb Raider has enjoyed non-stop success since it was first released in 1996.

On the big screen, the main character, Lara Croft, has been played by big-named actresses Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.

The slot game stays true to the game’s theme with ancient idols and dangerous animals.

Hitman

Since the year 2000, millions of gamers have enjoyed playing as Agent 47, a genetically enhanced assassin who travels the globe carrying out his missions.

The game was an instant hit as it allowed you to complete the mission how you see fit, whether it be charging in guns blazing, or taking a slow and systematic approach to erase your target unseen. Like the other games mentioned so far, Hitman was also turned into two movies and a slot machine.

What’s next?

As the gaming industry continues to expand, you can expect to see many more crossovers as game developers look to monetize their creations in new and compelling ways.
