“I did not expect the US Congress to get involved.”
CBS All Access has published the first trailer for its documentary Console Wars, which will tell us the awesome story of the war between Nintendo and Sega. Sega was the underdog in this battle of consoles, and they surely did put up one hell of a fight! It is executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
The doc comes from filmmakers Blake J. Harris and Jonah Tulis and here’s the synopsis:
Console Wars takes viewers back to 1990 when Sega, a fledgling arcade company, assembled a team of misfits to take on the greatest video game company in the world, Nintendo. It was a once-in-a-lifetime, no-holds-barred conflict that pit brother against brother, kids against grownups, Sonic against Mario, and uniquely American capitalism against centuries-old Japanese tradition. For the first time ever, the men and women who fought on the front lines for Sega and Nintendo discuss this battle that defined a generation.
If you are a gamer then you should mark your calendars for this doc and watch all of the insaneness behind-the-scenes stories that it tells. The doc is set to air at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, and will then be aired on the CBS streaming service on September 23rd.
