Eric Barone, aka ConcernedApe, has announced a new game in development, Haunted Chocolatier. There aren’t a ton of details yet, but we do know you will be running a chocolate shop in a haunted castle. Here is how ConcernedApe puts it:
Now, you might be scratching your head, wondering exactly what type of game this is. I’m not sure how best to describe it. It’s evolving organically as I develop it, so I’m not sure where it will go. But at its core, the gameplay loop involves gathering ingredients, making chocolate, and running a chocolate shop. Of course, there’s a lot more to the game than that, but I don’t want to get too deep into at this early stage, partly because I don’t want to be tied down to any particular concept of what the game is.
It sounds like he’s doing this project solo again so far, so a release date or time frame are so far unknown. He wants to be able to make the game how he wants it to be without feeling rushed by a promised release date which I can respect. The good news is we do have a short trailer to see how it looks so far, and it looks great. Visually it looks really similar to Stardew Valley so it’ll be interesting to see how this game ends up being different from it.
