Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Fast-Travel Explained

Respawn Entertainment has verified that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will feature fast travel, along with other options to fast getting from point A to point B. While Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was very well received, it was not without its criticism. The lack of fast travel was a point of frustration for many Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order players. Respawn has taken the opportunity to ensure that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor won’t have the same problem.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order players that went through the game in a relatively normal fashion wouldn’t have too significant of a problem with the lack of fast travel. It was when players wanted to go the extra step and try and 100% the game, collect every collectible or otherwise explore every nook and cranny in the game that it became an issue. Players worked around the lack of fast travel by using repeated deaths to transport back to the Singer Mantis, but the trek could still be painful.

Traveling should be much smoother in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, according to Respawn Entertainment. An interview in the upcoming issue of Play Magazine includes news on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from game director Stig Asmussen. Asmussen explains that the upcoming release will include a point-to-point fast travel system, akin to what’s often standard in modern games with open worlds or large map areas.

Fast travel isn’t the only traversal option being included in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, either, confirms Asmussen. Asmussen says that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will also feature mounts, creatures that can be ridden between points. That means that not only will players be able to ride a mount from point A to point B, but they’ll then be able to fast travel back to point A and vice versa. Searching for collectibles will be that much easier.

It’s unfortunate, of course, that players will have to wait a bit longer to experience Star Wars Jedi: Survivor‘s new traversal features for themselves. EA confirmed recently that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is being delayed six weeks and is now launching on April 28. There’s, unfortunately, no fast travel option to make April arrive any earlier.

While the wait for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is going to be that much longer, Respawn Entertainment appears to be doing its best to make sure the game is worth the wait. The sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be a next-gen console exclusive, allowing major steps forward in graphics settings and loading times. Loading time modifications, specifically, may be responsible for now allowing fast travel.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases on April 28 on PC, PS4, and Xbox Series X/S.
