The new PS Plus tier system guarantees Extra and Premium subscribers are getting a small something every two weeks. On the last Wednesday before the first Tuesday of a new month, the PS Plus Essential games are shown and then they are released on that Wednesday (with August 2022 including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, and Little Nightmares).
Sony will announce the PS Plus Extra and Premium games, then release them, and the cycle replicates. Now, PS Plus Extra has received 12 games today. What’s a little shocking is that these are only for the Extra tier, meaning Premium subscribers don’t have any new classic games to check out this month.
Even without classic games being added, however, the line-up for the new month is pretty strong. Arguably headlining this month’s additions are three Yakuza games Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2. Sony had earlier revealed plans to bring eight of the Yakuza games to PS Plus, which really bodes well for the famous franchise’s future, especially as many fans know the next game is already in works, too.
PS Plus Extra Games for August 2022 List
- Bugsnax
- Dead by Daylight
- Everspace
- Ghost Recon Wildlands
- Metro Exodus
- Monopoly Madness
- Monopoly Plus
- Trials of Mana
- Uno
- Yakuza 0
- Yakuza Kiwami
- Yakuza Kiwami 2
Following those are some major games: Bugsnax, the cutesy adventure games about half-bug, half-snack creatures; Dead by Daylight, the popular asymmetrical game with licensed killers; Everspace, an action space shooter with roguelike elements; Trials of Mana, a remake of a beloved JRPG; and Ghost Recon Wildlands, an open-world tactical combat adventure. And, as a little extra, there are some games based on popular board/card games, specifically Monopoly Madness, Monopoly Plus, and Uno. All in all, there’s a nice variety of games available for subscribers this month.
The cycle of unveiling and release will continue on as well. While there’s no telling what’s lined up for the Essential tier in September yet, fans can expect Sony to confirm these PS Plus games on August 31 and release them on September 6. Then, it’ll come complete circle again with the Extra games available for September midway through the month, but until then, there’s certainly plenty for fans to enjoy now.
