PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS

Disney+ has unveiled an extensive trailer for its upcoming adaptation of Rick Riordan’s beloved fantasy series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. This sneak peek provides an in-depth glimpse into the series, offering audiences a closer look at the narrative. The story revolves around Percy, a 12-year-old boy portrayed by Walker Scobell, leading a seemingly ordinary life until the revelation that he’s a half-blood, a unique blend of human and Greek god.

The revelation propels Percy into the world of Camp Half-Blood, where demigod youngsters train to harness their extraordinary powers. Teaming up with his companions, the satyr Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and fellow half-blood Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), daughter of Athena, Percy embarks on a mission to recover Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt.

The series unfolds the captivating saga of a contemporary demigod grappling with newfound supernatural abilities. Accused by the sky god Zeus of pilfering his master lightning bolt, Percy, aided by friends Grover and Annabeth, embarks on a life-altering adventure to locate the stolen artifact and restore order to Olympus.

An ensemble cast enriches the series, with Lin-Manuel Miranda portraying Hermes, Megan Mullally as Alecto (aka Mrs. Dodds), Toby Stephens embodying Poseidon, Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson, Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus (aka Mr. D), Jay Duplass taking on the role of Hades, Glynn Turman as Chiron (aka Mr. Brunner), and the late Lance Reddick portraying Zeus. Other notable cast members include Adam Copeland as Ares, Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Medusa, Olivea Morton as Nancy Bobofit, Suzanne Cryer as Echidna, Timm Sharp as Gabe Ugliano, and Timothy Omundson as Hephaestus.

The pilot, co-written by Rick Riordan and Jon Steinberg, is helmed by director James Bobin. Steinberg, alongside producing partner Dan Shotz, will oversee the series, promising to stay true to Riordan’s original vision. Mark your calendars, as Percy Jackson and The Olympians is set to premiere with two riveting episodes on December 20th, 2023.
