Netflix has unleashed a full trailer for Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Season 2. The story for the series is based in 2045, and it continues to follow the experiences of prosthetic cyborg Motoko Kusanagi as she leads Public Security Section 9 as they once again take on cyber-brain crime.
The series comes from Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki and here’s the official synopsis for Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Season 2:
Public Security Section 9 once again takes on a threat against humanity in the highly anticipated second season of “Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045.” Continuing from the mystery-laden ending of Season 1, the battle between Section 9 and the “posthumans” threatening humanity finally begins. The chaotic story unfolds at a breathless pace, posing the ultimate question: are the “posthumans” the potential of human evolution as shown throughout “Ghost in the Shell?”
The voice cast includes Atsuko Tanaka as Motoko Kusanagi, Akio Otsuka as Batou, Kōichi Yamadera as Togusa, Yutaka Nakano as Ishikawa, Toru Ohkawa as Saito, Takashi Onozuka as Pazu, Tarô Yamaguchi as Borma, Sakiko Tamagawa as Tachikoma, Megumi Han as Purin Ezaki, Kenjiro Tsuda as Standard, Kaiji Soze as John Smith, Megumi Hayashibara as Takashi Shimamura, and Shigeo Kiyama as Kurisu Ōtomo Teito.
The series’ second season is directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Eden of the East, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) and Shinji Aramaki at Production I.G and Sola Digital Arts. The original Ghost in the Shell manga was created by Masamune Shirow. The character designs are from Ilya Kuvshinov, with music from Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi. Series writers include Kamiyama, Ryou Higaki, Kurasumi Sunayama, Harumi Doki,, Dai Sato, and Daisuke Daitō.
Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Season 2 will be premiering on Netflix, starting May 23rd, 2022.
