Neill Blomkamp (District 9 and Elysium) made a supernatural horror movie during the pandemic. The movie is titled Demonic, and here today we have some 8mm behind-the-scenes footage from the movie to share with you giving us our first look at the horror movie.
The movie follows a young woman who “unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural powers at the root of a decades-old split between mother and daughter are ruthlessly exposed in this horror-thriller.”
This is the first feature film that Blomkamp has directed after Chappie in 2015. Since then he’s been making short movies for his Oats Studio, like a new Aliens movie and a RoboCop movie, both of which fell through for him.
Blomkamp and AGC Studios “hatched a plan to make a more nimble production in the meantime in the wilds of Canada’s most westernmost province.” The movie stars Carly Pope, Chris William Martin, and Michael Rogers. It’s also said that there’s “a strong sci-fi and VFX component in keeping with Blomkamp’s previous three movies.”
IFC Midnight will release Demonic in select theaters and on VOD on August 20th.
