Warner Bros has released the first trailer for the new holiday movie 8-Bit Christmas. The movie stars Neil Patrick Harris as a father who is telling his daughter a story about his childhood in the late ‘80s and the journey he started on to get a Nintendo Entertainment System for Christmas.
This looks like a super fun movie filled with all kinds of wonderful nostalgia. I never owned an NES when I was a kid, but I played it all the time with my friend who lived just down the street. I was at his house all the time playing that thing! Ikari Warriors, The Legend of Zelda, Rampage, the Super Mario Bros. games, damn those were some good times.
The movie was directed by Michael Dowse (Fubar, It’s All Gone Pete Tong, Goon, What If, Stuber) and it also stars Winslow Fegley, June Diane Raphael, Steve Zahn, David Cross, Sophia Reid-Gantzert, Cyrus Arnold, Jacob Laval, and David MacInnis. The synopsis for the film reads:
From New Line Cinema and HBO Max comes 8-Bit Christmas, a humorous and heartfelt look back at the adventures of childhood. Set in suburban Chicago in the late 1980s, the story centers on ten-year-old Jake Doyle’s (Winslow Fegley / Neil Patrick Harris) herculean quest to get the latest and greatest video game system for Christmas.
Warner Bros will release Dowse’s 8-Bit Christmas on HBO Max from November 24th, 2021, during the Thanksgiving holidays.
