Lenovo Revealed The World’s First Foldable Computer

Samsung’s try to introduce a foldable smartphone didn’t go as planned but Lenovo hits up with a folding PC at CES. Revealing it in Las Vegas, the company reassures its sale till the mid-2020s.  What holds it different is the flexibility and portability it has been created with.

ThinkPad X1 Fold has a 13.3 inch OLED touchscreen that gives a resolution of 2048 x 1536. It has also been provided with a mini Bluetooth keyboard that can be operated wirelessly or by attaching it on to the lower side of the screen via magnets, creating a mini laptop. Eliminating the physical keyboard, the gadget holds an option of a virtual keyboard as well, making it work as a tablet. The company is positive in the design keeping in view the stresses placed on the screen while folding it, for which a multi-link hinge mechanism has been created.

Other interesting features incorporate Intel Core processors with Hybrid Technology, 8 GB of RAM and compatibility for 5G and available with Windows 10. Originally, the cost is expected to be $2,499. The gadget is made of lightweight metals and carbon fiber, all covered inside a leather folio. Mixing it all the weight hardly crosses 2.2 pounds!

As it morphs through multiple modes, from a small footprint device into a fully flat 13.3-inch display, X1 Fold will deliver laptop efficiency with smartphone portability,” Lenovo said.

When the gadget is closed, the keyboard gets charged inside the system, sandwiching between the two screens. Users can watch their favorite show with the OLED display or use the Active Pen to scroll through their documents. It can also connect to a full-size mouse or a secondary display via a USB. All design specs have been thoughtfully blended to enhance productivity and give the best user experience.

Creating the world’s first foldable PC is a major engineering challenge, but Lenovo is more than up to the task,” said Christian Teismann, president, commercial PC and Smart Device Business at Lenovo.

The panel for the gadget has been provided by LG, a profitable result of a four-year collaboration. As Lenovo promises a no compromise on quality policy, the designers also insure for the gadget’s durability. The curved design, when folded, makes it look a book in your hand and a desktop when it sits on a desktop. The gadget shall also be made available for Windows 10X, well, when to expect that, it hasn’t been revealed yet.

The portable size of the screen leads the list when considering the pros of this design. Whether you want a small screen in front of you or you to want to present a business presentation spreading up the screen, you can use it anyway! It’s pretty appreciable that tech enthusiasts are coming up with awesome designs keeping in view the various applications of the users combined within a single gadget.
