TWISTED METAL Series

Peacock, the streaming platform, has recently unveiled an exciting new trailer for the highly anticipated series adaptation of the beloved classic video game, Twisted Metal. This newly released trailer is an absolute whirlwind, embodying a red-band-style preview that leaves little to the imagination. Packed with relentless violence and colorful language, it delivers precisely what fans have been eagerly anticipating. From what we can gather, this show promises to be an absolute riot, and I, for one, cannot wait to immerse myself in it. It’s evident that the series successfully captures the essence and energy of the original game.

The narrative of the series revolves around an audacious and quick-witted outcast named John Doe, portrayed by the talented Anthony Mackie. In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, John is presented with a golden opportunity for a better life, but the catch is that he must safely transport a mysterious package across treacherous terrain. Assisted by a trigger-happy car thief, he finds himself confronted by brutal marauders who pilot vehicles of destruction, as well as other perils that await on the unforgiving open road. One such adversary is a deranged clown named Sweet Tooth, who drives an eerily familiar ice cream truck. The character of Sweet Tooth is brought to life by WWE Superstar Joe Seanoa, known as Samoa Joe, in a dual role. Will Arnett lends his voice to this unpredictable and maniacal figure. Sweet Tooth is a captivating blend of humor and terror, possessing immense strength and a volatile temperament. Concealed behind a perpetual, unnerving smile beneath his clown mask, he transforms the region known as “Lost Vegas” into his personal playground of mayhem, all while maneuvering his infamous doomsday ice cream truck.

Joining the stellar cast are Thomas Haden Church, Neve Campbell, Mike Mitchell (known for his roles in “The Tomorrow War” and “Love”), Tahj Vaughans (renowned for his appearance in “P-Valley”), Lou Beatty Jr. (recognized from “A Million Little Things” and “NCIS”), and Richard Cabral (known for his work in “Mayans M.C.” and “American Crime”).

The series is being developed by Michael Jonathan Smith, a talented writer acclaimed for his contributions to the hit series “Cobra Kai.” The concept for the show stems from the creative minds of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who have previously wowed audiences with their work on “Deadpool” and “Zombieland.” Described as a high-octane action-comedy, Twisted Metal is set to premiere on July 27th, promising an adrenaline-fueled extravaganza that fans of the game and newcomers alike will surely relish.
