Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 Arrives This Week

by William Linden

Baldur’s Gate 3‘s highly anticipated Patch 7 comes to PC this week, developer Larian Studios has revealed.

The studio’s X/Twitter account shared a video of CEO Swen Vincke confirming the release window at PAX West, though no specific date was confirmed. “Patch 7 is coming out next week,” he said last week, meaning it will come sometime between September 2 and September 8, 2024.

The console and Mac version of Patch 7 still has no release date, though Larian previously said it would arrive in September. “With so many changes and new features arriving in this patch, it’ll take a little longer to get these to you on console and Mac, but don’t worry, you’ll be murdering your enemies and installing mods in no time,” the post said.

Vincke commented on this too: “We’ll start with the PC version. The console version will come a bit later because it has to go through a bunch of submission processes. It also gives us the time to see whatever goes wrong and fix it so that we can get it in time for console.”

Patch 7 looks to add and change a ton of Baldur’s Gate 3, and is headlined by the addition of official mod support for both PC and console. It will likely be the final major update for Baldur’s Gate 3, as Vincke said in June 2024 that he and the team “really want to move forward and do new things” so players “will see the level of support diminished to really critical bug fixes.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 was the surprise hit of 2023, as the Dungeons & Dragons-based game captured the attention of fans in unprecedented ways with its seemingly unlimited ways to tackle a seemingly unlimited number of situations.
